Harrisburg, PA – State Senator Nick Pisciottano (D-Allegheny) today announced the passage of Pennsylvania’s 2026-27 state budget, a bipartisan spending plan that invests in Pennsylvania’s future while lowering costs for families and strengthening communities across the Commonwealth.
Following months of negotiations, the General Assembly approved the $50.8 billion budget and sent it to Governor Josh Shapiro for his signature. The budget represents a balanced compromise that makes strategic investments without raising taxes.
“The new state budget passed today invests in our community, devoting funds to our kids’ schools, repairing more roads and bridges, and lowering costs for Pennsylvanians – with no tax increase,” said Senator Pisciottano.
Highlights include:
- $15 million in new funding for public schools in the 45th District, protecting residents from higher property taxes while providing students with additional resources to learn and succeed.
- $53 million for additional road and bridge projects in Allegheny County.
- Cost-of-living adjustment for retired municipal police officers, firefighters, and school employees who retired before July 2, 2001.
- No tax increase while continuing to invest in Pennsylvania’s future.
