Monroeville, PA – State Senator Nick Pisciottano (D-Allegheny) today announced $6,868,815 in Local Share Account (LSA) grant funding has been awarded to 28 projects in Allegheny County to support public safety, infrastructure, parks and recreation, and municipal facilities projects.
“By bringing $6.8 million in grants from gaming revenue back to Allegheny County, we are helping to offset the growing costs of maintaining roads, upgrading aging sewer systems, and equipping our police and fire departments, while also alleviating financial pressure on local taxpayers,” said Senator Pisciottano.
LSA funding utilizes gaming revenues generated from Pennsylvania casinos and racetracks to support public-interest initiatives, including municipal infrastructure, public safety improvements, facility renovations, stormwater management, and other capital projects. LSA funding is designed to deliver long-term community benefit, with projects required to be owned and maintained by an eligible applicant or nonprofit organization.
The funding, administered by the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA), includes 28 projects in Senator Pisciottano’s district:
- $640,000 to Elizabeth Township for municipal building improvements, constructing a building addition for office space, police operations, and conference facilities (with Rep. Kuzma)
- $580,000 to Castle Shannon for the Belleville Retaining Wall project to stabilize a slope and roadway adjacent to Belleville Street (with Rep. Mazzocco)
- $500,000 to Wilmerding for Wilmerding Community Center to fix structural leaks and restore the in-ground pool (with Rep. Markosek)
- $500,000 to West Mifflin Sanitary Sewer & Stormwater Authority for Maryland Pump Station Improvements, including VFD controls, SCADA upgrades, and new pump connections (with Rep. Inglis)
- $460,000 to Elizabeth Borough for the Riverfront Walking Trail Steps and Lighting Project connecting Riverfront Park to 2nd Avenue Extension (with Rep. Kuzma)
- $404,149 to Glassport for the 2026 Street Reconstruction project to repave sections of 6th Street and 8th Street (with Rep. Inglis)
- $350,000 to Homestead for the replacement of the Municipal Building HVAC system (with Rep. Goughnour)
- $300,000 to Turtle Creek for a roof replacement on the municipal building (with Rep. Markosek)
- $280,421 to North Versailles for a Public Safety Radio Upgrade to integrate township dispatch and emergency communications with Allegheny County’s system (with Rep. Markosek)
- $275,290 to Monroeville Volunteer Fire Companies No. 1, 3, 4, 5, and 6 to purchase thermal imaging cameras and safety gear (with Rep. Markosek)
- $250,000 to Braddock for street reconstruction along sections of 9th Street, 11th Street, and Washington Street (with Rep. Salisbury)
- $225,701 to Elizabeth Township for Boston Riverfront Park development, including new ADA walking trails, accessible parking, a dog park, and playground upgrades (with Rep. Kuzma)
- $205,000 West Elizabeth for street infrastructure repaving across multiple borough roadways (with Rep. Kuzma)
- $200,000 to Heritage Community Initiatives in North Braddock for facility safety and compliance renovations (with Rep. Salisbury)
- $200,000 to McKeesport for the Spring Street Connection Project to reconstruct roadways and build sidewalks on Spring, Grant, and Cornell Streets (with Rep. Goughnour)
- $200,000 to Munhall for Phase 2 of the Main Street Business District Improvement Project to replace non-compliant sidewalks, curbs, and lighting conduit (with Rep. Goughnour)
- $200,000 to Clairton Municipal Authority for Phase 2 of the Dry Run Sanitary Sewer Replacement project (with Rep. Goughnour)
- $200,000 to White Oak for locker room, restroom, plumbing, and ADA accessibility renovations at the Heritage Hill Park pool facility (with Rep. Goughnour)
- $143,546 to Port Vue to acquire a public works truck with snowplow/spreader and a loader vehicle (with Rep. Goughnour)
- $126,653 to Clairton to replace two 2016 dump trucks with two new 2026 dump trucks for municipal public works operations (with Rep. Goughnour)
- $125,000 to McKeesport for Renziehausen Park tennis court, pickleball court, and walking trail renovations (with Rep. Goughnour)
- $100,000 to Plum for the Drennen Road Restoration Project, including culvert replacement and road resurfacing (with Reps. Markosek & McAndrew)
- $100,000 to East Pittsburgh for municipal street reconstruction across 16,000 square yards of roadway (with Rep. Salisbury)
- $76,393 to Elizabeth Township to purchase skid steer attachments and a heavy-duty transport trailer for public works operations (with Rep. Kuzma)
- $67,222 to Braddock to rehabilitate and modernize the municipal council chambers (with Rep. Salisbury)
- $59,440 to North Versailles Sanitary Authority to purchase a new public works dump truck for sewer system maintenance (with Rep. Markosek)
- $50,000 to Homestead for ADA-accessible equipment and surface upgrades at Sullivan Park Playground (with Rep. Goughnour)
- $50,000 to Vigilant Hose Co. No. 1 in Port Vue to acquire a new fire department pumper truck (with Rep. Goughnour)
