Monroeville, PA – State Senator Nick Pisciottano (D-Allegheny) today announced that six projects in the 45th Senatorial District have been awarded a combined $6.75 million in Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP) grants to support community improvements, economic development, and infrastructure.

The state investments will help modernize healthcare and recreational facilities, advance school construction projects, preserve a historic cultural landmark, expand educational opportunities, and spur redevelopment that will create thousands of jobs.

“These investments reflect our commitment to strengthening the communities that make Allegheny County a great place to live, work, and raise a family,” said Senator Pisciottano. “We’re making strategic investments to improve the quality of life of residents today while laying the foundation for long-term economic growth.”

Awards include:

  • $3,000,000 to Kane Hospital McKeesport for roof, window, and exterior door replacements that will improve the facility’s safety and energy efficiency (with Rep. Goughnour)
  • $1,000,000 to Steel Valley School District for construction of the new elementary school (with Rep. Goughnour)
  • $1,000,000 to Boyce Park Pool for infrastructure, stormwater, paving, landscaping, and other site improvements (with Rep. Markosek)
  • $750,000 to Tom Johnson Boys Academy in West Mifflin to renovate the former St. Agnes School, creating new classrooms, instructional spaces, offices, and student support facilities (with Rep. Inglis)
  • $750,000 to Carnegie Library of Homestead Music Hall for HVAC, electrical, stage, safety, and ADA accessibility upgrades (with Rep. Goughnour)
  • $250,000 to 4350 Propco, LLC in Monroeville for the redevelopment of the former Westinghouse site for a new tenant expected to bring up to 2,000 jobs while creating hundreds of construction jobs (with Rep. Markosek)

RACP is a Commonwealth grant program administered by the Pennsylvania Office of the Budget to provide financial assistance for the acquisition and construction of regional economic, cultural, civic, recreational, and historical improvement projects that generate substantial public benefits and promote economic growth throughout Pennsylvania. Eligible applicants include municipalities, redevelopment authorities, industrial development agencies, and other entities undertaking significant capital improvement projects.

Senator Pisciottano thanked State Representatives John Inglis (D-38), Dan Goughnour (D-35), and Brandon Markosek (D-25) for their roles in helping to bring these funds back to Allegheny County.
